Ask the Horse!

A horse suddenly came galloping quickly down the road.

It seemed as though the man had somewhere important to go.

Another man, who was standing alongside the road, shouted,

“Where are you going?” and the man on the horse replied,

“I don’t know! Ask the horse!”

Just like the man on the horse, we technical writers sometimes don’t know where our careers are going. We are trained to wake up in the morning, go to office, complete our documents and return back. Are we in the right organisation? Are we learning? Is this how we want our career to pan out? Are these the kinds of documents we want to write? Do we understand the domain for which we are writing?

These are some of the questions among many more that you should be asking yourself. It is bad enough to be on a horse which you don’t like. It is further worse to be on a horse that you don’t like and going somewhere you don’t know. So, pause; get down from your horse and look around you. Look at the horse. Is this the horse you want to be on? Is this the road you want to be travelling on? Do you see your destination on this path? Think about it…
